CAMBRIDGE, MA–The Bulfinch Companies, Inc., a Boston-based, private commercial real-estate investment firm celebrated the “Topping Off” of the new Building 400-500 at Cambridge Discovery Park (CDP), signifying the completion of structural steel erection.

Totaling 280,000 square feet, Building 400-500 is the final building at CDP and is scheduled for completion in Q1 2020. The revitalized CDP was reimagined as a lab, research and development, and life science campus.  The six-story building is targeting LEED® Gold Certification and designed for complete end user flexibility, featuring lush green space and unobstructed views of Cambridge and Boston.

CDP offers nearly 800,000 square feet of state-of-the-art space for biotech and life science tenants on a richly landscaped 27-acre campus surrounded by Alewife Brook Reservation and the Alewife Redline T Station. As one of the largest campuses in Cambridge, CDP provides a rare opportunity to benefit from a natural setting within an urban location and five-star AC Marriott Hotel.

“Bulfinch is delighted to celebrate this important project milestone for Building 400-500,” said Robert Schlager, President of Bulfinch. “With the revitalization of Cambridge Discovery Park, the property is now one of Bulfinch’s premier assets that further demonstrates our focus on life science. Building 400- 500 will complete the park development offering unprecedented amenities and much needed lab and office space to the Cambridge market.”

“The Kendall corridor has seen success in life science, but there is only so much space in east Cambridge,” stated Larry Grossman, Senior Principal at Stantec. “Cambridge Discovery Park provides life science tenants with numerous, modern amenities while also maintaining a location in Cambridge that is easily accessible from the Alewife T Station and Route 2.”

Tenants at CDP have access to numerous amenities, including a 150-room AC Hotel with conference center, restaurant and bar, two parking garages for 650 and 383 cars respectively, outdoor seating, a café, and a fitness and yoga center. The property location offers convenient access to the Alewife MBTA Red Line Station and Routes 128 and 2.  CDP currently boasts a distinguished list of tenants including Forrester Research, The Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, FogPharma, LifeMine Therapeutics and Genocea Biosciences, Inc.

CDP was designed by Stantec with John Moriarty & Associates serving as General Contractor.  Primary financing is being provided by Citizens Bank.

“Citizens Bank is proud of our longstanding strategic and financial partnership with Bulfinch,” said Sean Randall, Team Leader and Senior Vice President at Citizens Bank. “We have a great relationship with the Bulfinch Team and we applaud their success as they reach this key milestone on the way to completing another excellent project.”
