BOSTON– The Bulfinch Companies, Inc. announced that it has been selected as a winner of the Boston Women’s Workforce Council and Boston Mayor’s 2024 Wage Equity Impact Awards. This award recognizes businesses that work towards eliminating gender and racial wage gaps and promoting equality in the workplace.

Pamela G. Yang, CPA, CFA, Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer of Bulfinch, accepted the award on behalf of the company during a panel discussion held at Boston University’s Center for Computing and Data Sciences on June 12. The event celebrated companies committed to creating equal and fair advancements for women and included discussions on policies and practices that foster more inclusive workplaces.

“Bulfinch is honored to receive this important recognition from the BWWC and the city of Boston,” said Eric D. Schlager, CEO at Bulfinch. “This award is a testament to our commitment to creating an inclusive workplace where everyone has the opportunity to thrive and contribute to developing innovative solutions and creating value for all our stakeholders.”

Bulfinch was recognized for the firm’s successful efforts to eliminate barriers for women’s advancement and creating equal opportunities for all employees. In 2023, 70% of Bulfinch’s promoted employees were women, highlighting the company’s dedication to creating a more inclusive workplace. In addition to increasing gender and racial diversity in leadership, Bulfinch established an internal task force to recruit and fill critical positions with women. As a result, the company’s C-suite is now 50% women, up from 0% the prior year.

“It’s inspiring to see these businesses that dedicate themselves to creating equal and inclusive workplaces,” said Kim Borman, Executive Director of the BWWC . “By actively working to eliminate gender and racial wage gaps, they are setting powerful examples for other employers to follow. Their commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion not only benefits their organizations but also contributes to the broader community. All the award winners should be immensely proud of their achievements and the positive impact they are making.”
