CAMBRIDGE, MA – The Bulfinch Companies, Inc., a private real estate investment, development and management firm, announced that it has secured an 1,300 SF lease with Cambridge Artists Cooperative, Inc. (CAC) in Harvard Square.

Mike Wilcox, SVP and Director of Leasing at Bulfinch, served as the leasing broker for the landlord.

“We are extremely pleased to continue our long-term relationship with CAC and that they have chosen to remain at 59 Church Street, continuing to enhance the Harvard Square community with art, craft and culture,” said Wilcox.

59-63 Church Street is a 10,822 SF, three-story office, residential, and retail building with a tremendous location in the heart of Harvard Square in Cambridge, MA. The building is steps away from The Red Line, the Charles Hotel, One Brattle Square, Harvard University and a host of retail, restaurant, and banking services. Bulfinch worked closely with CAC to negotiate a favorable two-year extension that allowed the coop to remain in the building and the square.

“Cambridge Artists Cooperative is elated that Bulfinch has made it possible for us to remain at 59a Church,” said Ann Szerlip, CAC. “Our space has been consolidated to one floor and our artists work has been redisplayed to accommodate this change.”

CAC’s announcement that they will remain in Harvard Square has been well received by the community and City Council Members. “I’m so glad that CAC will be able to remain in its longtime space on Church Street,” said Jan Devereux, Vice Mayor of The City of Cambridge. “Over its 30+ years the CAC has attracted so many loyal customers who were worried the artists might be displaced. The gallery offers unique artist-made items that people can’t find in other places or online. Harvard Square needs more stores like the CAC to set it apart from other retail districts.”

Cambridge Artists Collaborative (CAC) is located in Harvard Square, Cambridge, Massachusetts. Founded in 1988, CAC remains an artist owned and operated Gallery of Contemporary American Craft showcasing the work of artists from across the USA. As a cooperative, our member artists participate in the store, so when you shop you will meet an artist! This artist-customer interaction invites participation in a refreshing unique atmosphere and creates a sense of community.
