BOSTON—Boston Real Estate Times, one of New England’s largest digital, video and print real estate publications, today named William McQuillan as Person of the Year 2019. Mr. McQuillan is the founding principal of Boylston Properties, and has dedicated 40 years to developing real estate in Greater Boston.

With Mr. McQuillan’s vision and leadership, Boylston Properties has brought distinctive real estate to the city, including CityPlace, the Longwood Galleria, Fenway Triangle Trilogy, Marriott Residence Inn Fenway, Wellesley Gateway, the corporate headquarters for Harvard Pilgrim HealthCare, Marriott Residence Inn Watertown, LINX and Arsenal Yards.

“We at the Boston Real Estate Times are excited to honor Mr. McQuillan for his vision, dedication and service to the real estate industry and the Greater Boston community,” said Upendra Mishra, publisher and editor of Boston Real Estate Times. “Mr. McQuillan has played a major role in shaping the real estate landscape of Greater Boston.”

Mr. McQuillan will be honored at the annual breakfast award ceremony on Aug. 6, 2019 at the Westin Hotel in Waltham, MA. Boston Real Estate Times will also present the 2019 Real Estate Times Excellence Awards in various categories on Aug. 6. The winners will be announced later this week.

Mr. Mishra added that Mr. McQuillan and his team are truly transforming Watertown into a thriving neighborhood through the Arsenal Yards development project, which is comprised of over one million square feet of development, including 250,000 square feet of shopping, dining and fitness, as well as fresh groceries and a seven-screen cinema, office and life science space, 300 contemporary residences and a 150-room Hampton by Hilton.

Over the course of his career, Mr. McQuillan has collaborated with some of the industry’s most creative architects and planners. He has been deeply impacted by the idea that every property can, and must, be infused with thoughtful design details. His portfolio of work from the past four decades is a testament to that belief.  Today, he focuses on cultivating partnerships, driving deals and overseeing the design aspect of all Boylston Properties projects.

Passionate about serving and adding his skills to Boston institutions, Mr. McQuillan has served on the Board of the Huntington Theatre Company since 1997. During his 5-year tenure as Chair of the $24 million Capital Campaign, Huntington Theatre Company built the Calderwood Pavilion in Boston’s South End and created the first endowment in its 25-year history.

Mr. McQuillan served on the Board of Trustees of his alma mater Babson College for 10 years and chaired the Physical Facilities Committee for 5. It was during this time period that the new Olin Graduate School, Reynolds Student Center, Glavin Chapel and numerous other projects were built. In addition, Bill currently serves on the board of MassArt and Mass Audubon.
