Bob Ruzzo Joins John M. Corcoran Company as EVP

BRAINTREE, MA– John M. Corcoran & Company (JMC) announced that Robert M. “Bob” Ruzzo has been named Executive Vice President—Property Management for the company.

In this role he is the primary business leader for the company’s property management operations, charged with achieving property, portfolio and company profit objectives and leading the growth of the property management division. He also serves as President of Corcoran Management Company, Inc. Bob succeeds Kevin Young who retired after 36 years of service to the company.

“Bob is a terrific leader in the housing field and brings extensive experience across sectors that will help John M. Corcoran Company achieve its goals,” said JMC president Richard High. “The company has grown in the past few years and we’re confident that Bob’s expertise will continue that growth and take us to the next level.”

Ruzzo comes to JMC with a wealth of public and private sector experience in affordable housing, real estate, land use planning, environmental impact analysis, transportation, transit-oriented development, and public-private partnerships. Most recently, he served as Chief Operating Officer and Deputy Director at MassDevelopment and also as the agency’s general counsel. Ruzzo also held a senior position at the Central Artery/Tunnel Project in Boston and leadership roles in the transportation sector, including General Counsel and Deputy Secretary of the Massachusetts Executive Office of Transportation and Construction.

He was previously Chief of Real Estate Development for the Massachusetts Turnpike Authority and held a number of progressively senior roles at MassHousing, including twelve years as the Agency’s Chief Operating Officer and Deputy Director. In addition, Ruzzo law at Sherburne, Powers & Needham and Holland & Knight, with specialties in affordable housing, land use and environmental matters.

Ruzzo received his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center cum laude, and he is a summa cum laude graduate of Colby College. He has served on the boards of The New England Center for Children and the Charles Bank Homes Foundation and is currently a board member of the Real Estate Bar Association of Massachusetts and the Melrose Affordable Housing Corporation. Ruzzo is a long-time resident of Melrose, Mass.
