NEW YORK— Block Renovation, an AI-powered platform that connects property owners and contractors, has acquired BuildZoom Marketplace in a move that creates what the company says is the nation’s largest technology platform for renovation and construction projects.
The acquisition combines BuildZoom’s extensive contractor network and demand engine with Block’s AI-based design, pricing, and project management tools. The newly integrated platform will operate nationwide, enabling property owners in all 50 states to plan, price, and execute residential and small commercial projects through a single digital destination.
According to Block, the platform now processes more than $100 million in renovation and construction projects annually and extends the company’s reach beyond the $500 billion residential renovation sector into residential new builds and small commercial developments — together representing a market exceeding $1 trillion.
“With this acquisition, we’re scaling the first end-to-end destination for renovation and construction, giving homeowners and small businesses a single place to design, hire, and build with clarity and confidence,” said Julie Kheyfets, CEO of Block Renovation. “Together, we’re bringing the category from fragmented and opaque to connected, transparent, and trusted.”
The acquisition expands Block’s platform to include:
Nationwide access — Property owners in all 50 states can now receive AI-driven project guidance, contractor matching, and pricing transparency.
Residential new builds — Block will now support new single- and multi-family construction projects, adding an estimated $530 billion market opportunity.
Small commercial projects — The company will broaden its services to include small business construction such as restaurants, clinics, and retail spaces, a segment representing $200–300 billion in annual spending.
“Our agentic platform is transforming how property owners and contractors collaborate—making every step smarter, more transparent, and more connected,” said Matt Stein, Senior Vice President of Product and Engineering at Block. “We’re improving the experience for both sides: property owners receive data-driven support and visualization tools, while contractors gain higher-quality leads and better-prepared clients.”
With roughly 100 million U.S. property owners facing an often complex and opaque renovation process, Block Renovation aims to streamline construction planning and execution through automation and data-driven design.
“As we expand nationally, we’re setting a new standard for what property owners should expect from the renovation and construction experience,” Kheyfets said. “Building should be about creating a space you love — and doing so with confidence and trust.”
