BOSTON–Architectural Engineers, Inc., a Boston-based mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and lighting design services firm, has merged with IMEG Corp., helping position the firm for future growth in the Northeast.

Founded in 1985, AEI has offered MEP/FP, low-voltage, and lighting design services throughout Massachusetts and New England for more than 35 years, providing skillful and thorough work on a wide variety of projects within the airport, education, government, healthcare, and transit markets.

“AEI’s reputation was built by delivering innovative solutions to engineering problems in the building systems industry centered on the spirit of extraordinary teamwork and partnership,” said AEI Chief Executive Officer Robin Greenleaf. “This philosophy blends well with IMEG’s client-centric approach, allowing us to leverage a broader base of market and technical expertise.”

“We are very excited to welcome AEI into our company,” said IMEG President/CEO Paul VanDuyne. “By blending both firms’ MEP, technology, and sustainable design expertise, IMEG’s full-service engineering portfolio, and AEI’s reputation in Boston and the surrounding areas, we create a strong synergy for future growth in the Northeast.”

The firm will continue to operate out of its existing Boston office, doing business as AEI, now IMEG. Matheson Financial Advisors represented AEI in the transaction.
