Braintree/Quincy, Mass— Affordable Housing and Services Collaborative, Inc. (AHSC), a nonprofit dedicated to developing and preserving affordable rental housing, has appointed Shanon-Imani Benjamin as its new Assistant Development Manager, the organization announced Monday.
In her new role, Benjamin will support AHSC’s development team across multiple project initiatives, working closely with stakeholders throughout all phases of the real estate development process — from early project concept and planning through construction and completion.
“We are delighted to welcome Shanon-Imani to our development team,” said Michael J. Mattos, president and executive director of AHSC. “Her professional and educational background and commitment to equitable housing development reflect the values we uphold at AHSC.”
Before joining AHSC, Benjamin served as a project engineer at Davis Construction in Rockville, Maryland, and previously worked as a real estate development associate with Dantes Partners in Washington, D.C.
She holds a Bachelor of Science in biology and anthropology from Susquehanna University and a master’s degree in real estate development from the University of Maryland.
Benjamin is also active in several industry and community organizations, including the Urban Land Institute (ULI) and Women of Color in Community Development (WCCD). She is a REEC mentee, a graduate of Project REAP, and an honorary Open Access fellow. She also contributed to the launch of POIEMA Development Group, LLC, based in Orange, New Jersey.
A resident of Quincy, Massachusetts, she is an avid equestrian and an advocate for the fine arts.
Founded in 2001, Affordable Housing and Services Collaborative, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that develops affordable housing and works to improve the quality of life for residents. AHSC has partnered on more than 30 developments, helping preserve over 3,000 affordable units and creating 179 supportive housing units for formerly homeless veterans across four communities.
