CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The $17 million renovation of the Academic Complex at the University of North Carolina Charlotte (UNCC) is complete. Five academic buildings make up the complex at the southeast end of campus. The buildings include and were renovated in the order of Denny, Macy, Barnard, Garinger and Winningham.
The university contracted with Woolpert in 2015 to upgrade the mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP), install a fire protection system, improve accessibility, provide interior finishes and exterior windows, and address minor building settlement at these buildings.
Woolpert Architect David Welling said these improvements are designed to serve students well for years to come.
“The modernization of these academic sites will provide a more comfortable learning environment for students, while ensuring access to the technology necessary in 21st-century education,” said Welling, who also is a UNCC graduate. “UNC Charlotte is investing in students’ present as well as their futures. I’m excited to support the great work of my alma mater.”
