WELLESLEY, MA—The Associated General Contractors of Massachusetts (AGC MA) Building Women in Construction (BWiC) Committee has announced their annual Women in Construction (WIC) week activities to honor, celebrate, and support the growing number of women working in the construction industry.
On Monday, March 4, the founders of AGC’s Building Women in Construction (BWiC) Committee will discuss the formation of the group in 2016 to address and remedy gender inequities and barriers.
The panel will be moderated by Christy Murphy of the Vertex Companies, LLC. and include Carli Cabana (VVA Project & Cost Managers), Rose Conti (Lee Kennedy Company), Jacqueline Falla (Elaine Construction), Siggy Pfendler (Columbia), Stacy Roman (Chapman Construction/Design), Kelly Scholler (Elaine Construction), and Katrina Walther (Suffolk Construction).
Culminating AGC’s activities, on Wednesday, March 6, AGC MA will honor winners of the 2024 BWIC Inspire Awards an annual awards ceremony honoring current and emerging female leadership in construction.
“Women in our industry have made tremendous strides, but there is more to be done,” says Lisa Frisbie, AGC MA Vice President of Member Services. “Too often, women in this industry don’t see another woman in the rooms where decisions are being made or on the jobsite where construction happens. This year, while we celebrate the impressive accomplishments of our colleagues, we’ll also explore opportunities to build our community and welcome more women into this rewarding and important work.”
