Bethesda, Md.–Walker & Dunlop, Inc. announced it has arranged $625.3 million in fixed-rate loans from Freddie Mac to refinance a portfolio of eight multifamily communities owned by IMT Capital, spanning six high-growth U.S. markets.
The refinancing, handled by Walker & Dunlop Capital Markets, included properties across San Diego, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Denver, Atlanta, and Nashville, totaling 3,096 apartment units.
The transaction was led by Cory Wizenberg, Matt Wallach, Stephen West, Walker Layne, AJ Wright, and Sebastian Tamayo, who worked with Freddie Mac to coordinate a complex multi-property deal that allowed each loan to close according to its maturity schedule while maintaining consistent loan terms across the portfolio.
The financing closed in four staggered phases between July and October 2025, with timelines synchronized across the Freddie Mac quote, closing, and funding processes.
“This portfolio refinance showcases our ability to craft innovative, coordinated capital solutions across multiple markets,” said Matt Wallach, Managing Director at Walker & Dunlop. “Collaborating with IMT and Freddie Mac, we were able to deliver a solution that maximized efficiency and positioned the portfolio for continued success.”
Andrew Wizenberg, Managing Director at IMT Capital, praised the execution, noting the refinance underscored both the strength of the multifamily sector and IMT’s strategy in competitive markets.
“Executing this portfolio refinance across multiple properties in some of the nation’s most competitive multifamily markets highlights both the strength of the sector and our strategic approach to growth,” Wizenberg said. “The power of Walker & Dunlop’s expertise combined with their partnership with Freddie Mac was instrumental in achieving favorable terms and completing a complex, multi-asset transaction efficiently.”
Walker & Dunlop, one of the nation’s top providers of multifamily financing, originated over $30 billion in debt financing volume in 2024, including more than $25 billion for multifamily properties.
