WALTHAM, MA. – Vantage Builders, Inc., a general contracting and construction firm based in Waltham, MA., announced that it completed the build-out of the first location of CYCL3, the next-generation of indoor cycling, located at 112 Mall Road in Burlington, Mass.
Vantage Builders built the 3,200-square-foot location, which includes a fitness studio, reception area and shower/changing facilities. The studio opened on June 3, 2017.
“We are thrilled to bring a new level of excitement and exercise to the Greater Boston area with CYCL3,” said Kelsey Curtin, General Manager, CYCL3. “It’s a low impact, high intensity interval training that feels more like a high-energy dance party than a workout class. What sets our studio apart are our dynamic instructors, spa-like facility, and custom bikes. We also pride ourselves on our high-level of customer service not usually found in an independent boutique fitness studio. The Vantage Builders team’s ability to manage the build-out process, from pre-construction and helping with permitting all the way through to finish work, was crucial in getting us open on time and within budget. It was a seamless experience from start to finish, just like one of our classes.”
Clients are greeted in the reception area, which features a custom-designed desk and neon lighting. New paint reflects the CYCL3 branding and messaging, while the flooring throughout includes luxury vinyl tile (LVT), painted epoxy and tile. Though class size is kept small, clients have access to two shower areas and four bathrooms.
“Everyone has a story and we all ride for our own reasons,” said Curtin, explaining the purpose behind CYCL3. “We ride to feel strong. We ride for clarity. We ride to connect within our community. We ride to reconnect within ourselves. We ride because every day should be a cardio party. While we can’t always describe why we ride in words or measure it on a scale, one thing we know is that it’s more than a workout. It starts with an intention and it ends with an accomplishment. The indescribable feeling that comes from working together, pushing ourselves further and harder than before. For 45 minutes, we ride, reshape, and restore together.”
The studio features 50 custom CYCL3 Stages SC2 bikes for classes that are intense but designed for participants of all fitness levels. The studio is outfitted with a 12-speaker high-end sound system that creates an immersive high-energy experience and a lighting display with a bold range of colors, patterns and intensities. Instructors have full control over the music and lighting systems to help set the tone and pace of each individual class. “Our instructors motivate, inspire and challenge riders to let loose, free their minds, strengthen their bodies and surrender to the rhythm,” continued Curtin.
Systems work for the project included the installation of a two-zone HVAC system with rooftop units that provides separate dedicated temperature control for the studio and the rest of the location. A new fire alarm and sprinkler system provides safety for the facility. The plumbing work was made more challenging by the building’s structural slab, which would not allow trenching. All underground plumbing work was completed via a 3’x3’ access panel.
The project team included WB Engineers + Consultants. John Ferris of CBRE/New England Retail provided brokerage services for CYCL3.
