Boston – The Davis Companies announced that biotechnology company Ginkgo Bioworks has leased 38,759 square feet of laboratory and office space at 10 Wilson Road, located within TDC’s Quad campus in Cambridge, Massachusetts. With the addition of Ginkgo Bioworks, all of the newly constructed space on the growing campus is now fully leased to leading life science and technology companies.
The Quad is a planned 510,000 RSF campus located just minutes from the Alewife Station on the MBTA Red Line. When completed, the campus will consist of four new and redeveloped life science/lab/R&D buildings – 10 Wilson Road, 75 Moulton Street, 101 Smith Place and 40 Smith Place. With the recently delivered space at both 75 Moulton Street and 10 Wilson Road now fully leased, TDC is planning to break ground on the 155,000-square-foot 101 Smith Place in early 2021. An additional 248,000 RSF at 40 Smith Place is planned for construction in 2023.
Headquartered in Boston, Ginkgo Bioworks’ cell programming platform is enabling the growth of biotechnology across diverse markets, from food to fragrance to pharmaceuticals. Ginkgo is also actively supporting a number of COVID-19 response efforts, including community testing, epidemiological tracing, vaccine development and therapeutics discovery.
“During September and October we had tremendous demand for the last two remaining spaces at 10 Wilson Road. We are happy to be able to partner with Ginkgo in their expansion out of Boston’s Seaport and into Cambridge,” said Duncan A. C. Gilkey, Senior Vice President and Director of Leasing for The Davis Companies. “Ginkgo Bioworks is an exciting and dynamic life science company at the forefront of COVID-19 testing, accelerating diagnostics, therapeutics and vaccines, joining our other life science tenants at The Quad: Civetta Therapeutics, Invaio Sciences, Hyperion and Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd.”
The Quad offers campus parking and a dedicated shuttle, transporting employees to and from the Alewife MBTA Red Line Station. As the newest member of the West Cambridge life science cluster, The Quad stays true to the original design intent of quad designs on university campuses, in a setting surrounded by state-of-the-art lab systems and infrastructures, a community park and café space, upgraded landscaping, event programming and modern offices and meeting rooms to drive curiosity and encourage innovative thinking.
