BOSTON– The Overlook at St. Gabriel’s and Cabot Cabot, & Forbes hosted the 33rd annual Boston Preservation Alliance Award ceremony last month. Since 1988, this award has been presented annually to people and projects that demonstrate the highest level of commitment to Boston’s historic character.

“The Boston Preservation Alliance works to assure that as Boston evolves it assures that places that can empower each of us through connections to the past continue to live vibrant and engaged lives. Buildings and landscapes throughout the city hold stories of our varied and deep history and have the power to demonstrate that each of us can impact Boston today and tomorrow,” stated Greg Galer, Executive Director of Boston Preservation Alliance. “Our annual awards celebrate individuals and businesses demonstrating exemplary work to protect places, promote vibrancy, and preserve the character of Boston in all its forms. The Overlook at St. Gabriel’s is not only deserving of this honor but serves as an exquisite setting to demonstrate the value of new uses for historic places once thought too far gone to preserve.”

The Overlook won a 2021 Boston Preservation Alliance Preservation Achievement Award. The pristine redevelopment of one of Brighton’s historic monasteries and churches is one of only six projects to receive the prestigious award this year and is honored for its exemplary preservation of an important piece of the area’s history.

“It is a full-circle moment to be able to have hosted the Boston Preservation Alliance Award ceremony at The Overlook,” said John Sullivan, Executive Vice President of Cabot, Cabot & Forbes. “Preservation of the iconic St. Gabriel’s church and monastery was top of mind during the completion of our redevelopment, so this award and ceremony are a testament to the team’s accomplishments.”

The Overlook at St. Gabriel’s offers the unique opportunity to live in a historic landmark, expertly restored to preserve architectural detail, while also affording residents every modern convenience in each of the 555 apartment homes.
