BOSTON — Suffolk recently welcomed a group of electrical students from Madison Park Technical Vocational High School to its Huntington Tower construction site, offering hands-on exposure to construction careers and real-world learning at one of Boston’s most prominent mixed-use developments.
Twelve students participated in the site visit, which was designed to introduce them to career pathways in the construction industry while showcasing the scale and complexity of a major urban project. The visit began with an overview of the Huntington Tower development and an introduction to construction career opportunities, led by Project Executive Eamonn Murphy. Students then took part in a guided site tour with Safety Manager Greg Bonica, who emphasized jobsite safety and coordination.
During the tour, students engaged directly with representatives from four trade partners, asking detailed questions about their work and day-to-day responsibilities. A highlight of the visit came when students toured the electrical room, where they were able to identify systems and components they had studied in class—bringing their classroom learning to life in an active construction environment.
“The students were incredibly engaged,” said their instructor, who noted that the group continued asking questions on the ride back to school. “They were amazed by the opportunity to see a live construction site and to connect what they’re learning in the classroom with real-world applications.”
Located at 252–264 Huntington Ave. in Boston’s Fenway neighborhood, Huntington Tower is a 34-story, 472,000-square-foot mixed-use residential development. The project will include more than 400 residential units, ground-floor retail, and a significant expansion of facilities for the adjacent Huntington Theatre, including a new entry and lobby, rehearsal and technical rooms, a dedicated black box theater, and catering and bar areas.
The project is scheduled for completion in 2026.
