BOSTON – Suffolk has announced the promotion of Patrick Lucey to General Manager of the Northeast region. Lucey, who has been with Suffolk for 20 years, will oversee the company’s largest operational and employee base, along with its extensive project portfolio.

John Fish, Chairman and CEO of Suffolk, praised Lucey’s longstanding commitment to the company and leadership abilities, saying, “Pat has been integral to Suffolk’s success for two decades. He has led some of the most complex and iconic projects in our history and is known for his integrity, leadership, and dedication to client service. With the Northeast region being our largest and most diverse operation, we are confident Pat will drive its continued success and growth at this pivotal moment in our company’s journey.”

Lucey, who has held numerous roles throughout his career at Suffolk, expressed his excitement about the new role. “It’s an honor to take on the role of General Manager for the Northeast,” said Lucey. “I am proud to work for a company that values its people and our shared commitment to pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in construction. We are focused on helping our clients succeed, making a meaningful impact in the communities where we build, and continuing to redefine the built world.”

This promotion aligns with Suffolk’s ambitious AC28 strategy, a five-year plan aimed at making the company the most successful contractor in the United States by 2028. The strategy emphasizes leveraging data, technology, and artificial intelligence to drive growth and improve client services. As part of this vision, Suffolk is committed to promoting leadership from within to preserve its corporate culture while driving operational excellence.

Since joining Suffolk as a project engineer in 2005, Lucey has held a variety of roles, providing him with a comprehensive understanding of project management. Most recently, he served as Executive Vice President, where he managed a $2 billion portfolio and helped launch Suffolk Design, an in-house team of design and engineering experts. Lucey has been instrumental in integrating cutting-edge technologies, including AI, robotics, virtual modeling, and Lean construction methodologies, into Suffolk’s projects, helping the company to stay at the forefront of the industry.

Lucey’s leadership has been pivotal in the completion of some of Boston’s most iconic and complex projects, such as the Mandarin Oriental Boston Hotel and Residences, Millennium Tower, and Encore Boston Harbor Hotel and Casino. He also led the successful modernization of Boston Logan International Airport’s Terminal E and the development of South Station Tower Residences, among others.

Beyond his professional achievements, Lucey is dedicated to community service. He actively volunteers in the neighborhoods where Suffolk operates and serves on the board of Heading Home, a nonprofit focused on providing housing for homeless individuals. Lucey is also a supporter of The Giving Circle, an employee-run charity providing financial aid to those in the built-world community during times of need.

A graduate of Williams College, Lucey resides in the Boston area with his wife, Kate, and their two sons. When he’s not overseeing construction projects, he enjoys coaching his kids’ flag football teams.

Suffolk’s appointment of Patrick Lucey as General Manager of the Northeast marks a significant step forward as the company continues to expand its leadership and drive innovation across the construction industry.
