BOSTON–Given the strong demand for functional, safe, social and sustainable student housing and a mix of academic facilities, many colleges and universities across the country are either using or seriously considering developer-led or Public-Private Partnerships, known as P3, to meet the growing demand for residence halls and other academic facility needs.

SGA Founder and Chairman Al Spagnolo, who is a leading expert on P3 projects and has worked on several P3 and student housing projects, will speak at the P3 Academic Facilities Conference on Jan. 22, 2025 at Burlington Marriott in Burlington, MA.

Organized and produced by the Boston Real Estate Times, the P3 Conference will be held from 7:30 am to 10:30 am on Jan. 22, 2025.

Those who are not familiar with P3, such projects are long-term contracts that allow the public and private sector to participate in the design, construction, financing, operation, and maintenance of a project, now widely used in the academic sector, including student housing, across New England.

Although P3 has been increasingly playing an important role in projects ranging from public infrastructure to airports and healthcare, the 2025 P3 symposium will focus on academic and student housing facilities, providing insights into partnership trends and sectors to watch in 2025 and beyond.

Attendees will learn the following:

  • Growth areas.
  • Where are the P3 opportunities in New England?
  • What universities and colleges need for facilities?
  • Financing of P3 projects
  • Design and construction challenges, among others.
  • Why is P3 a win-win for both private developers and colleges and universities?
