Marcus Partners Appoints Alex Schaefer to Lead Acquisitions for Metro New York

BOSTON— Marcus Partners announced the appointment of Alex Schaefer as Managing Director, Investments, where he will oversee acquisitions across the Metro New York market.

Based in the firm’s Metro New York office, Schaefer will focus on sourcing and executing acquisition and development opportunities in the industrial and multifamily sectors throughout the Tri-State Metro area and Metro Philadelphia. He will work closely with Bill McAvoy, Principal, Investments, who currently leads acquisitions for the region.

Extensive Experience Across Asset Classes

Schaefer joins Marcus Partners with more than 15 years of real estate investment experience spanning multifamily, industrial, retail, and office properties. Most recently, he served as Vice President of Investments at AXA Investment Managers, where he originated and executed more than $3 billion in transactions across major U.S. markets. His work included investments in over 2,000 multifamily units and 31 logistics properties with a combined capitalization exceeding $2 billion.

Prior to AXA IM, Schaefer held senior acquisition roles with TKF Real Estate Investment, ALTO Real Estate Funds, and VEREIT, Inc., where he managed both portfolio and single-asset transactions nationwide. He began his career at Cushman & Wakefield and holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Connecticut.

Schaefer’s appointment reinforces Marcus Partners’ commitment to strengthening its regional investment capabilities and expanding its industrial and multifamily portfolio across the East Coast.
