PORTSMOUTH, N.H. – JSA Design, an architecture, planning and interior design firm headquartered in Portsmouth, NH, recently celebrated the opening of The Woods at Merrimack in Methuen, MA, a Sunshine Retirement Living community.
Located on nine acres across from Merrimack Valley Golf Club, the campus houses two three-story independent living buildings with 140 one- and two-bedroom apartments featuring resort-style amenities.
The apartments, designed in keeping with universal design principals, provide spacious kitchens with full-size stainless-steel appliances and granite countertops, an en suite washer and dryer, and private balconies overlooking manicured courtyards and gardens.
Common spaces include a welcoming bistro/bar where residents can gather around a cozy fireplace; casual and formal dining areas in a sun-drenched, two-story space with outdoor patio dining; a wellness and fitness facility; a library and game room with a tournament size billiard table; chapel; art studio; and luxurious salon and spa.
Outdoor amenities include an outdoor kitchen and fire pit, putting green, bocce court, pickleball court, and walking paths.
JSA Design teamed up with developer Buildable Sites LLC and construction manager, Dellbrook | JKS on the 140,000 square-foot facility with the cost for the project coming in at just $180 per square foot. Landscape architect RBLA, North Mechanical Services, Florence Electric LLC, and Denron Plumbing rounded out the team.
