FRAMINGHAM, Mass. – A longtime landmark along the Massachusetts Turnpike has entered a new chapter, as Colwen Hotels and XSS Hotels announced the completion of a sweeping, multi-year transformation of the historic “Castle Hotel,” now relaunched as a three-property destination known as The Framingham Hotel Collection.
At the center of the redevelopment is the newly debuted Renaissance Framingham Hotel & Conference Center, which joins Fairfield Inn & Suites Framingham and TownePlace Suites Framingham to form a unified, multi-brand campus totaling 371 guestrooms and suites.
Originally opened in 1975 as the Sheraton Tara Hotel, the castle-inspired structure has long been a recognizable feature of the MetroWest skyline. The newly completed project preserves that identity while introducing modern amenities and expanded hospitality offerings designed to meet a wide range of traveler needs.
“We are proud to expand our collaboration with Marriott and elevate this landmark,” said Stephanie Paschal, Regional Director of Sales for Colwen Hotels. “Housing three distinct brands in one destination allows us to serve guests and groups with incredible flexibility while honoring the castle’s legacy.”
The reimagined campus blends heritage architecture with contemporary design, featuring updated public areas, technology-enhanced meeting spaces, and three new dining concepts. These include Malone’s Irish Pub & Social, a revival of the former Molly Malone’s pub; Provisions Hearth & Kitchen, a New England-inspired breakfast venue; and Tara Cafe, a lobby café offering coffee and grab-and-go options.
The Renaissance property anchors the development as a full-service hotel, offering redesigned guestrooms, updated gathering spaces, and a renewed focus on meetings, weddings, and events. The site now features more than 25,000 square feet of flexible event space, capable of hosting everything from small business meetings to large-scale gatherings of up to 1,000 guests.
All three hotels operate under Marriott International and participate in the Marriott Bonvoy program, allowing guests to earn and redeem points across Marriott’s global portfolio.
With its official debut, The Framingham Hotel Collection signals a new era for one of MetroWest’s most recognizable properties—blending historic character with modern hospitality and a flexible, multi-brand guest experience.
