Cataumet, Mass. — A piece of Cape Cod history is set to change hands in dramatic fashion as the iconic “Mariana Manor” heads to auction on June 9—with no reserve. Located in the picturesque village of Cataumet, this fully restored 19th-century estate offers a rare combination of old-world craftsmanship and modern luxury.

Perched on a nearly two-acre hilltop overlooking Buzzards Bay and Red Brook Harbor, Mariana Manor, once known as The Cataumet Inn, will be sold to the highest bidder in an on-site and remote auction conducted by Elite Auctions. Open houses are being held every Thursday through Sunday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., leading up to auction day.

Originally constructed in the 1880s as the Aldrich Hotel for Boston’s upper crust, and later converted to a private residence in 1905, the estate remained in the Alden family for five generations. Its balloon-frame structure, hardwood floors, original layout, and ornate crown molding have all been lovingly preserved. At the same time, the home has undergone a three-year, top-to-bottom renovation that introduces every modern convenience, including:

  • Smart home technology

  • Gourmet commercial-grade kitchen

  • Brand-new heating and cooling systems with heated floors

  • Updated bathrooms, fixtures, plumbing, and electrical systems

  • New energy-efficient windows, doors, and insulation

Currently listed at $6.5 million, the 10-suite property comes fully furnished with curated designer décor, new appliances, and artwork from local artists. Each suite includes a private living room, bathroom, and kitchenette, making the estate ideal for use as a multi-generational family compound, luxury vacation rental, or high-end Airbnb. The property also features expansive open-concept living spaces, a pool and pool house, manicured lawns, and a private fishing pond.

“This auction represents more than a real estate transaction—it’s an opportunity to steward a piece of Cape Cod’s legacy,” said Elite Auctions Co-founder and President Tara McLean. “The seamless integration of historic detail and modern design makes Mariana Manor a rare find in today’s market.”

Mariana Manor’s location offers prime accessibility—just minutes from the Bourne Bridge and a short drive from Boston, Providence, and New York. Ferries to Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket are also nearby, enhancing the estate’s appeal as a year-round residence or seasonal getaway.

The live auction will begin at 11 a.m. ET on Monday, June 9. Bids will be accepted in person and remotely. For more information or to schedule a private tour, call 844.94-ELITE or visit Elite Auctions online.
