SALEM, MA – Groom Construction’s newest project, a state-of-the-art office and retail space at 331 Lafayette Street in Salem, is well underway and is expected to be ready for occupancy late October 2017.
Groom broke ground on the 24,000 sq. feet mixed-use building this past December, 2016. The project was redesigned due to community requests following the initial meeting in August developer, Robert Burr and Peter Pitman, architect.
The updates to the development include a redesign to maintain the historical setting with brick and clapboard siding. Burr also plans to alleviate traffic congestion by improving access on West Avenue with a right-hand turn lane.
“In my 32 years as a real estate developer, I have made it a priority to gather community feedback and incorporate it as much as possible,” said Burr.
331 Lafayette Street is not the first project for Burr. He has been developing properties for over 30 years, specializing in the re-use and redevelopment of outdated properties to create retail, office and medical space.
Burr plans to lease the first floor to retail businesses and the second and third floors will be available office space. Burr is currently looking for retail commercial clients to fill the space. All inquiries regarding the lease of the first floor retail space can be sent to Robert Burr at [email protected].
