NEWTON, MA– Erland Construction has partnered with PWC Companies and JSA Inc. to construct a new four-story assisted living and memory care community for Sunrise Senior Living.
Located at the corner of Washington and Hovey Street in Newton, Mass., Sunrise of Newton’s new senior living residence is Erland’s third out-of-the-ground project with Sunrise and fifth overall.
The ground-up building will offer 85 suites serving up to 108 residents. Each residence is specifically constructed for seniors and their unique needs. Standard features of the building will include wheelchair accessible suites and common rooms, showers modified to fit all different assistance devices and hallways with assistance handrails. The new community will be pet friendly, and feature amenities including underground parking, a bistro, outdoor park and common area.
Every suite will include custom finishes to help create a home environment and safety features, such as an emergency response system, giving residents the ability to call Sunrise staff 24 hours per day. Some residences will include access to a balcony as well.
“Sunrise’s mission is to champion the quality of life for all seniors,” Said Eric Greene, Vice President, Residential Group Manager at Erland Construction. “The new community will encourage independence and enable freedom of choice for its residents in a vibrant neighborhood.”
The new 101K square-foot community in Newton Corner’s suburban neighborhood will be set back and surrounded by lush landscaping. Sunrise of Newton is estimated to draw 70% of its residents from within five miles of its location.
