WASHINGTON— BOMA International announced that BOMA Fellow Becky Hanner, principal of Hanner Commercial Asset Services and a member of BOMA Raleigh-Durham, will serve as an expert panelist at an upcoming congressional briefing focused on indoor air quality (IAQ).
The event, titled “Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) for a Healthier America,” is hosted by ASHRAE in partnership with leading organizations in the building sciences and public health sectors. It will take place Friday, March 6, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the Gold Room of the Rayburn House Office Building on Capitol Hill.
The program will include remarks from U.S. Reps. Paul Tonko, Don Beyer and Brian Fitzpatrick (invited), followed by two expert panels examining IAQ fundamentals and policy opportunities.
Hanner will participate in the panel discussion, “Indoor Air Quality in Practice: Bridging Industry and Policy Innovations,” where she will offer a commercial real estate practitioner’s perspective on improving building performance, supporting occupant health and advancing scalable IAQ solutions nationwide.
Mary Lue Peck, president and COO of BOMA International, said Hanner’s participation reflects the leadership and expertise within the organization’s membership.
“BOMA International is honored to have one of our distinguished members — who carries the BOMA Fellow title — recognized for her leadership in promoting healthy, high-performing buildings for America’s workforce and communities,” Peck said. “Becky’s participation on the panel will showcase the expertise our local members offer to their home communities and the commercial real estate industry at large.”
The BOMA Fellow designation recognizes real estate professionals for sustained and exemplary contributions to the industry, their communities and the association. Fellows serve as mentors, thought leaders and ambassadors advancing the organization’s mission.
Founded in 1907, BOMA International, together with its education partner, the Building Owners and Managers Institute, advocates for the commercial real estate industry and provides professional development, research and industry-recognized credentials for professionals who own and manage billions of square feet of property nationwide.
The March 6 briefing is expected to draw policymakers, industry leaders and public health experts to discuss strategies for improving indoor air quality in buildings across the United States.
