BOSTON–Benchmark Senior Living and National Development have announced the joint acquisition of Church Hill Village, a 71-apartment assisted living and memory care community in Newtown, Connecticut.
Now renamed Benchmark at Newtown, the property will be operated by Benchmark, a leading senior living provider in the Northeast.
The transaction was completed through a joint venture between National Development and an affiliate of Benchmark, with financing provided by Webster Bank. This acquisition marks the latest in a series of collaborations between the two Massachusetts-based firms, including a new development in Scotch Plains, NJ, and a recent acquisition in Smithtown, NY.
Located at 2 The Boulevard, near the I-84 and Route 6 intersection in Fairfield County, Benchmark at Newtown sits within close proximity to Main Street, offering residents convenient access to local shopping and dining options.

Benchmark currently operates nine communities across Fairfield County and 21 across Connecticut. With a total of 68 communities throughout the Northeast, Benchmark offers a continuum of care including independent living, assisted living, memory care, respite care, and skilled nursing.
National Development, headquartered in Newton, MA, brings over 30 years of experience in senior housing. The firm has developed and invested in more than 33 senior living communities and is widely recognized for its leadership in the sector, including multiple national design awards.

Benchmark at Newtown features four interconnected neighborhoods designed with a focus on natural light and landscape visibility, incorporating biophilic elements such as skylights and glass corridors. Amenities include multiple dining venues, a creative studio, entertainment spaces, a salon, physical therapy facilities, and enclosed outdoor courtyards with a putting green, life-size chess board, and fireplace.
