BOSTON–The Associated General Contractors of Massachusetts (AGC MA) marked a milestone this month, celebrating its fifth annual Construction Inclusion Week (CIW) with a series of events designed to champion diversity, equity, and inclusion across the state’s construction industry.

Held from October 9–17, this year’s CIW brought together contractors, industry leaders, educators, and students for discussions, networking, and programs aimed at expanding opportunities and fostering respect across job sites and offices alike.

The celebration kicked off with an Open House at Trillium Brewery in Canton, hosted by AGC MA’s Building Women in Construction and Committee for Diversity and Inclusion. Attendees engaged in panel discussions and networking sessions exploring ways to promote equity and collaboration in the workplace.

Among the week’s many highlights was the AGC MA Supplier Diversity Summit, held at Wentworth University. Themed “Where is the Work and How Do We Get There?”, the summit featured Massachusetts Attorney General Andrea Campbell in conversation with AGC MA CEO John Ferrante, focusing on how inclusive practices drive innovation and economic growth within the construction sector.

Another standout event, “Women Leading the Way: Superintendents Shaping the Future of Construction,” drew a packed audience at Strategic Spaces in Boston. The panel featured leading women superintendents—including Stacey Harris (Consigli Construction), Jamie Muntz (BOND Civil & Utility Construction), Lauren Slaven (Shawmut Design & Construction), and Abby Harris (Dellbrook | JSK)—who shared insights on leadership, mentorship, and strategies to sustain women’s advancement in the field.

AGC MA also hosted a “Stand Down for Respect” at Bridgewater State University, where team members from Commodore Builders joined AGC MA leadership to engage in conversations about respect, safety, and inclusion on job sites.

The organization’s commitment to the next generation was highlighted through the Student Chapter CIW Roundtable and Project Site Tour, a day-long event connecting students from Wentworth University, Worcester Polytechnic Institute, UMass Amherst, and Franklin Cummings Tech. The program provided hands-on exposure to construction management careers and fostered dialogue on building an inclusive future workforce.

“Construction Inclusion Week is a cornerstone of AGC MA’s mission to develop and support a robust, diverse, and resilient construction workforce,” said AGC MA CEO John Ferrante. “Our workers, our industry, and the communities where we build thrive when everyone is given the opportunity to contribute, to grow, and to achieve their goals. We’re thrilled to see our efforts around diversity, equity, and inclusion generate such powerful results.”

As the organization looks ahead, AGC MA plans to continue expanding its CIW initiatives, ensuring Massachusetts remains a leader in cultivating inclusive practices within the construction industry.
