CHICAGO — JLL announced that it has been appointed as real estate advisor for A123 Systems’ planned U.S. manufacturing facility, marking a key step in the company’s continued North American expansion. The new facility will become A123 Systems’ third location in North America.
A123 Systems is a developer and manufacturer of lithium iron phosphate batteries and energy storage systems serving the rapidly growing clean energy and electrification markets. The planned expansion reflects the company’s strategy to strengthen its domestic manufacturing capabilities and better support customers across the region.
As part of the engagement, JLL will advise A123 Systems on identifying and securing a real estate solution that aligns with the company’s long-term operational and growth objectives. JLL’s scope of work includes site selection, transaction negotiation, and documentation, with a focus on ensuring the new facility supports A123 Systems’ supply chain, workforce needs, and production requirements.
A123 Systems’ current North American footprint includes facilities in Novi, Michigan, and Waltham, Massachusetts. The new manufacturing site will further expand the company’s presence in the U.S. and enhance its ability to meet increasing demand for clean energy solutions.
