“The overlap between the life sciences and the real estate industries is creating evolving opportunities for our clients, driven by biotechnology, pharmaceutical and medical device companies’ unique real estate needs and increased use of commercial real estate to meet those needs,” said Lauzon. “We are launching the PropSci practice based on the growing client demand at the intersection of these two industries. We are thrilled to offer Goodwin’s joint, unparalleled expertise in life sciences and real estate, and where the two converge, to market as we anticipate continued growth of this burgeoning sector.”

“As the global investment landscape becomes less siloed and innovation accelerates fundamental changes within every industry, life sciences companies are facing novel and complex real estate challenges that require deep understanding and expertise across both sectors,” said Sucoff. “Goodwin has long been the leading firm at the intersection of capital, innovation and disruption, and we are proud to formalize the first PropSci practice in a global law firm designed for the benefit of our clients around the world.”

The PropSci practice is an extensive, global network of life sciences and real estate lawyers working collaboratively to advise companies and investors across all stages of the corporate lifecycle and multiple business needs, including pre-Series A financing through exits via IPOs and acquisitions, construction and financing of life sciences facilities, and leasing transactions. The practice draws on nearly 300 life sciences and real estate lawyers across the firm’s 13 offices in the U.S., Europe and Asia.

The announcement follows the recent launch of Goodwin Labs, an innovative initiative aimed at supporting emerging companies within the life sciences sector. Goodwin Labs provides legal services and educational content to early-stage life sciences companies through partnerships with startup incubators and accelerators.
