ICSC Announces John R. Morrison as 2021 Chairman

NEW YORK–ICSC announced at RECon New York, that ICSC’s Board of Trustees elected John R. Morrison, CRX, CDP, to serve as the organization’s Chairman and Glenn Rufrano as Vice-Chairman for the 2021 term.

Morrison succeeds Daniel B. Hurwitz, Founder & CEO of Raider Hill Advisors, as ICSC’s 61st Chairman.

Morrison has over 40 years’ experience in the commercial real estate industry with a primary focus on retail real estate. He is the past vice chairman and former president and chief executive officer of Choice Properties Real Estate Investment Trust.

“John brings extensive industry experience and knowledge which will be valuable to ICSC’s continued growth and success,” said Tom McGee, ICSC president and CEO. “With years of ICSC Foundation leadership and volunteerism, in addition to the expertise he has acquired in various roles within retail real estate, John’s background will prove effective in helping us navigate the changes in the industry especially now as we look to the future following the pandemic.”

Prior to Choice Properties Real Estate Investment Trust, Morrison served as president and chief executive officer of Primaris Real Estate Investment Trust, and president, Real Estate Management, at Oxford Properties Group. An active member of ICSC for 39 years, he served as vice chairman on the Executive Board and is a director of the ICSC Foundation and chairman of the ICSC Foundation Canada. Additionally, Morrison is a former vice chairman of the Urban Land Institute Toronto District Council and is past chairman of the Ryerson University Real Estate Advisory Committee.

“My journey with ICSC, especially as a volunteer for so many years, has been invaluable to my career in this industry,” stated Morrison. “My role as Chair is to continue the strategic path established by ICSC management and to work with all member groups to execute ICSC’s strategic plan. I’m honored to serve my fellow members as ICSC’s next Chairman.”

Vice Chairman Glenn Rufrano currently serves as the CEO of VEREIT. Prior to that he served as the chairman and CEO of O’Connor Capital Partners and was among the founders of O’Connor in 1983. He previously served as president and CEO of Cushman & Wakefield, Inc. and as CEO of Centro Properties Group (an Australian public LPT) as well as CEO of Centro Properties Group U.S.
