Groom Construction Sponsors 11th Annual Senior Housing Facilities Summit

Groom Construction was contracted to build the new Beech Street Center in Belmont, Massachusetts. This environmentally-friendly 19,000 square foot public senior center was the first LEED-certified public building in Belmont.

WALTHAM, MA–Boston Real Estate Times, the region’s integrated online, print and video real estate magazine, announced that Groom Construction, a nationally recognized full-service general contracting and construction management firm, has joined as the sponsor of the 11th annual Senior Housing Facilities Summit on Sept. 16, 2021.

The 11th Senior Housing Facilities Summit is organized by the Boston Real Estate Times, which has hosted this summit for the last 11 years. The Sept. 16th summit will be held virtually due to ongoing concerns about COVID-19. The event will start on Zoom at 9:30 AM and conclude at 11:00 AM.

The summit will also honor Senior Living Residences CEO Robert Larkin for his outstanding contributions to the industry. In addition to Mr. Larkin, other speakers at the summit are: James Coughlin, Co-Founder and CEO, Northbridge Companies;  Michael Gordon, Senior Vice President of Acquisitions and Development, EPOCH Senior Living; and Brian Doherty, President and CEO, Massachusetts Assisted Living Association.

The summit will focus on challenges and opportunities face by the Senior and Assisted Living industry in the face of the current pandemic, including rising healthcare costs, an ageing population, increased longevity and the state of demand for senior living facilities.

Other topics include: How does 2021 and beyond look like for assisted living, senior housing and health rehabilitation centers in the context of the current pandemic? Despite the demand, why has occupancy fell or remained flat and why have construction starts been lower than expected in recent years? How has COVID-19 affected the industry and what should the industry do to deal with future pandemics?
