BOSTON– Despite four nor’easters in March, Gilbane successfully completed improvements to Fenway Park designed to enhance the views of fans both at the park and watching at home on TV.

The renovations, completed on time for the Boston Red Sox home opener vs. the Tampa Bay Rays on April 5, mark the eighth project in Gilbane’s partnership with the Red Sox/Fenway Park.

The improvements focused on Left and Right Field seating. In Left Field, the existing infield wall was demolished and replaced with a new wall and an additional row of seating. New wall panels were installed on the seating side to accommodate TVs and Wi-Fi. There were also improvements to the Camera Pit and a shift in the Dugout stairs to allow for improved camera views of the field.

Improvements to the Right Field Dugout included the construction of new walls and slabs to accommodate Camera Pit modifications, the construction of a new Dugout Suite and handicapped seating area, and the installation of a new wheelchair lift. New wall panels were installed behind the Dugout Suite to accommodate TVs and Wi-Fi with some structural reinforcing, along with a rework of drainage and electrical.

“Successfully completing the park enhancements before the home opener is always a highlight for the Gilbane team, particularly given there is no true ‘off-season’ at Fenway Park, with ongoing historical tours, college football games, and more,” said Nicole Looney, Director of Gilbane’s Interiors Group in Boston. “It’s also gratifying to know that some of the improvements provide an enhanced line-of-site for some fans and camera operators, which is always appreciated.”

“We value our partnership with Gilbane and their hardworking team that met our deadlines despite some challenging weather,” said Red Sox Executive Vice President of Business Affairs Jonathan Gilula. “Enhancements to Fenway Park each off-season, supported and realized by Gilbane, ensures that we can continually offer an improved ballpark experience for fans.”
