BOSTON–MullenLowe Group, a full-service global creative network whose agencies include MullenLowe and Mediahub, is moving to a new workplace in Boston’s Innovation District, located in the Seaport neighborhood.

Elkus Manfredi Architects is designing the office as well as providing workplace strategy services to help the group transition from its former offices to an inspiring, inclusive, and collaborative new hybrid workspace. The 66,000-sqft space at 2 Drydock Avenue, designed and constructed during the pandemic, is expected to open to MullenLowe Group employees this summer as one of the first new offices nationwide to emerge from the lockdowns into a new workplace reality.

“We intentionally pursued this move to Boston’s Innovation District to provide our employees with an optimal environment where creativity, mentorship, and collaboration can flourish.  While this transition came at a very challenging time for everyone, we have been lucky to be able to reimagine our workspace with a blank slate,” said Kelly Fredrickson, President of MullenLowe US. “Elkus Manfredi has been with us every step, guiding us along a strategic journey to understand new ways our teams can thrive in a hybrid workplace.”

Added Sean Corcoran, U.S. CEO, Mediahub, “Given Mediahub’s tremendous growth, especially over the past two years, it was important that our teams have a creative and flexible space that’s built for our evolving needs today and in the future. Working with Elkus Manfredi has helped us realize that vision and create a hybrid environment designed for creative innovation.”

After more than a year of remote work, the MullenLowe Group is seeking a workplace that is rife with opportunities for connection – both spatially and technologically – and facilitates mentorship and embraces inclusion and equity among its employees. Workplace strategists at Elkus Manfredi are guiding MullenLowe Group employees to help them identify “their hybrid,” determining the best way to achieve their ambitious workplace goals while leveraging office space and balancing innovation, creativity, and connectivity with a portion of the workforce working remote. The current workplace strategy and design accommodates up to 50-percent of the MullenLowe Group team onsite with built-in flexibility, such as multi-purpose rooms for in-person brainstorming or video conferencing and a higher percentage of acoustically private spaces.

“The MullenLowe Group is a true pioneer in the corporate world and among creative agencies coming out of the pandemic with a new workplace that supports innovation, community, creativity, and career-long learning,” says Elizabeth Lowrey, Principal and Director of Interior Architecture at Elkus Manfredi Architects.  “As design strategists, we have created ‘Can Be’ workspaces that provide flexibility for a talented team of creative thinkers who will now navigate the world of hybrid working.”
