HOLLISTON, MA–Business Development and Marketing Specialist Briana Colantonio of Colantonio Inc. was recently named chair of Building Women in Construction (BWiC), a committee of the Associated General Contractors of Massachusetts (AGC MA).
As the new BWiC chair, Colantonio became a member of its board of directors.
According to Colantonio, BWiC’s mission is to connect, empower, recognize, and support women within the AGC MA community and beyond through educational, developmental, networking, and powerful programs grounded in the AGC MA’s commitment to diversity, integrity, and excellence. The committee’s signature event is the annual BWiC Inspires Awards, which celebrates the most exemplary women in construction who demonstrate leadership, generosity, innovation, and unwavering commitment to their careers, colleagues, and industry.
As BWiC’s chair, Colantonio’s goals are to expand their network and generate interest in the industry, such as outreach to college students and faculty, and to increase their online presence. She believes engaging those who are new to construction, including men, will benefit all members. “The AGC MA and BWiC helped guide me at the start of my career three years ago,” said Colantonio. “Learning about the variety of paths that others have taken gave me insight into my own career potential. Those just starting out are enthusiastic and have a fresh perspective. They can offer new approaches to problem-solving and recruiting the younger generation.”
As an AGC MA board member, Colantonio looks forward to being involved in policy formation and strategic planning, especially matters pertaining to women in the construction industry.
