Boston Society of Architects Announces the Six Finalists for the 2019 Harleston Parker Medal

BOSTON—The Boston Society of Architects announced the finalists for the 2019 Harleston Parker Medal.

This annual award seeks to recognize “the single most beautiful building or other structure” built in the metropolitan Boston area in the past 10 years.

Paul Pettigrew AIA, director of Undergraduate & Alumni Outreach, Career Development at the MIT Department of Architecture led a panel of eight other acclaimed Boston professionals representing a wide range of disciplines, from architecture to art curation to civic engagement.

The winner will be announced at the BSA Design Awards Gala held on Thursday, January 23, 2020 in the Morris Auditorium at the 1981 Harleston Parker Medal-winning Federal Reserve Bank of Boston.

The Boston Society of Architects/AIA (BSA/AIA) is committed to professional development for its members, advocacy on behalf of great design and, together with its sister organization, the BSA Foundation, sharing an appreciation for the built environment with the public at large. Established in 1867, the BSA/AIA today consists of nearly 4,500 members and produces content for an array of programs and publications, including ArchitectureBoston Expo (ABX) and ArchitectureBoston. The Harleston Parker Medal award was established in 1921 by J. Harleston Parker in memory of his father. The first award was granted by the Boston Society of Architects/AIA in 1923. The intent of the award is to acknowledge the “single most beautiful building or other structure” built in the metropolitan Boston area in the past 10 years.
