15 Massachusetts Firms Honored as MassEcon “Impact” Award Winners

BOSTON – MassEcon, the state’s private sector partner in promoting business growth in Massachusetts, last week honored 15 enterprising companies from across the commonwealth with its Sixteenth Annual Team Massachusetts Economic Impact Awards, recognizing their outstanding contributions of investment, job growth, facility expansion, and community involvement.

Tanglewood also received a Community Impact Award for its Linde Center for Music and Learning.

Selected for their achievements since January 1, 2018, the 15 winners, from five distinct regions of the state, were congratulated at the annual MassEcon Impact Awards luncheon in a video presentation by Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker at the Renaissance Boston Waterfront Hotel, and live remarks from Secretary of Housing & Economic Development Mike Kennealy.

The Gold Award winners were Encore Boston Harbor, from Everett; AgriMark, from West Springfield; Insulet, from Acton; F.H. Cann & Associates, from North Andover; and Raw Seafoods Inc., from Fall River.

“MassEcon has been with us for over 25 years helping companies find great places in Massachusetts . . . and honoring and recognizing companies that stand out,” said Baker. “On behalf of myself and Lt. Governor Karyn Polito, I’d like to extend our gratitude, appreciation and congratulations to all of the award winners. .. and all of you who are supporting them.”

“Each of these employers has committed to Massachusetts and together they re-affirm that our state is a great place to locate and grow a business,” said MassEcon Executive Director Pete Abair.

About 350 people attended the luncheon, which was MassEcon’s 16th  annual awards event. The Presenting Sponsor was Citizens Bank, and it was emceed by Lisa Hughes, a news anchor at WBZ-TV.

“We have large companies and small, urban and rural, home grown companies and others that are very new to Massachusetts.  They are from a variety of industries and from every part of the state,” said Stephen Flavin, Vice President for Academic and Corporate Engagement at WPI and Chairman of MassEcon. “Since January 1, 2018, these companies collectively added more than 6,660 jobs, over $3.4 billion in capital investment, and more than 4.4 million square feet of facility expansion.”

The winning companies (listed below) were selected after site visits and a reception with their competitors and judges at Nutter McClennen & Fish LLP.

The Gold Award Winners were accepted by Shacey Petrovic, President and CEO of Insulet; Scott Hutchens, Vice President of Raw Seafoods Inc.; Frank Cann, COO and Executive Vice President of F.H. Cann & Associates; and Eric Kraus, Senior Vice President of Public Affairs at Encore Boston Harbor.
